The Process

01

The Discovery Call (complimentary 20 minutes)

Go to the " CONTACT" page and reach out through phone, email or submission form and we will schedule a "Discovery Call".

In this virtual pre-appointment, we aim to understand your behavioral concerns. In this session, we'll explain the approach, talk about costs and duration, and decide together if Cognitive Nutrient Therapy and the Walsh Protocol are suitable for you.

02

Consultation (in-person)

The health assessment process involves a thorough examination of your medical and family history, lifestyle, and daily habits. and consideration and discussion of specific testing.

03

Precision Testing

Testing will be a variety of general labs, specialty labs, functional medicine test and genetic testing. These tests aim to reveal potential imbalances or specific factors contributing might otherwise remain obscured. The results of these tests are necessary for customizing a treatment plan with an accurate and personalized approach.

04

Follow Up

Follow up visit from consultation, summarizing test results and presenting the treatment plan, Starting the protocol and attending the support coaching calls through the duration of protocol.

05

Follow up Testing

Re-testing and evaluation of results so that modifications  can be made to treatment plan.

Common Questions

WHAT TESTING WILL BE DONE

The testing will depend on the protocol needed. To learn more about most of the testing we conduct

WHAT IF I HAVE PREVIOUS TEST RESULTS, CAN YOU USE THEM?

Most of the testing we do is not traditional and is more specific to the Walsh method. Most patients would not have these lab tests performed, although there are some basic labs that may be able to be utilized.

WHEN DO YOU RE-TEST?

For Pyrroles, urine re-testing is done at the 4-6 week time frame after starting the protocol.

Other labs would be re-tested at the 3 month time frame and possibly once more at the 6 -9 month mark. For individuals that have completed our protocols and are on maintenance protocols, no retesting is needed unless previous symptoms present which are common with puberty or hormonal changes.

ONCE I COMPLETE THIS PROTOCOL DOES IT NEED TO BE REPEATED?

Not typically. Once imbalances are adjusted and you continue with some basic supplementation the levels should remain balanced. There may be a recurrance of symptoms that can happen during a drastic hormonal shift (puberty, post-partum, peri-menopausal) or physiological change. It would be helpful during this time address a  treatment plan to re-normalize some particular chemistries.

ONCE I TAKE THESE CUSTOMIZED NUTRIENTS/SUPPLEMENTS DO I HAVE TO CONTINUE TAKING THEM?

For some imbalances not typically, for other imbalances you may have to continue with some maintenance supplementation indefinitely especially regarding genetic disorders. Genetic disorders don't go away and can persist for the remainder of life.  For example, If you are genetically an Overmethylator - you may need specific forms of nutrients to help your body from overmethylating  (overprocessing) and vice versa for undermethylation.

The maintenance supplementation can be formulated based on your biochemistry into a compounded personal supplement and/or creams to allow for better compliance. They can also be ordered in bulk to help keep costs down.

HOW MUCH CAN I EXPECT TO PAY FOR THE SUPPLEMENTS FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROTOCOL.

Initially it is more expensive because the supplements are all given individually as adjustments are made to your nutrient protocol. Once adjusted then you can order a custom formulation and having the option to order in bulk to help keep the cost down. During the treatment protocol You should budget for the nutrients to cost on average $200-$300 per month during the 4-6 month protocol but it depends on the level of imbalances based on the test results. Supplements may be paid out of HSA accounts.

HOW MUCH WILL THE TESTING COST?

Depending on the symptoms and diagnosis, the required testing can vary. On average you can expect about  $950 for all the initial testing.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Cognitive Nutrient Therapy is out of network for insurance, however you may get reimbursed for some of the charges once you are given a "superbill".

Insurance companies assess and disperse reimbursement fees based on diagnosis codes and standard services codes. Dr. Mintzer is responsible for coding accurately to reflect the actual services she is providing. A fairly large portion of the consultation may actually be re-imbursed.

Based on past experience many do not reimburse for the other holistic services. This is unfortunate because the Walsh method protocol is offering a drug-free approach to address the root cause of the imbalances that effect the mental/behavioral disorders.

For certain laboratory services the tests may meet your insurance requirements and be paid by the insurance company. However, most labs that we use are out of network. In these instances we encourage you pay  "cash pay" which may be the lowest price for non-covered test.
